Infrastructure Engineer

Storage/ Server Engineers take the ownership for handling and maintaining data storage’s engineering process, including networks, servers in an organization. They do this by building strategies and planning and implementing solutions for storage and maintenance of data and backing it up off-premises. They do this by comprehending the requirements of organizations and providing technical support round-the-clock. 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITY:

Ø To provide technical support in both a proactive and reactive manner, ensuring systems are stable and performing within the terms of their respective Service Level Agreements.

Ø Applying patches, upgrading software, and making sure that data is secured. They are also responsible for monitoring the storage area network (SAN).

Ø As a key member of the storage services team, the Storage Administrator will provide analysis and implementation support for data storage solutions, including pre-site inspections and initial implementations.

Ø Generate performance check report on monthly basis, Analyze and suggest ways to improve capacity / performance related issues.

Ø Monitor- report performance of server/storage/virtual infrastructure, taking account of hardware utilizations.

Ø Evaluate and conduct POC for various new technology / tool related to capacity planning/performance monitoring and reporting.

Ø Ensure that agreed levels of capacity and performance is measured and monitored on an ongoing basis.

Ø Windows File Server Management along with Access - storage reports.

Ø Troubleshooting the Server Errors, Compliance report generation.

Ø Maintain Incident Management controls of Data Centre (relating to incident Management tickets of Server/ storage)

Ø Performs day to day administration and monitoring on all installed storage platforms.

Ø Performs SAN management tasks, zoning, LUN masking of various disk types to the appropriate platforms.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Ø Experience working with storage products on a variety of Open Systems.

Ø Excellent analytical abilities, resulting in problem resolution.

Ø Able to work on Storage platforms like Nutanix, VMware, NetApp, EMC software. NFS servers etc.

Ø Able to work on Server platforms like HP, Dell, CISCO, Lenovo or equivalent

Ø Sound knowledge of Virtualization Technologies like VMware, Nutanix & OS platforms like Windows, Linux

Ø Strong working knowledge of Fiber channel fabric, specifically Cisco switches.

Ø Experienced with Clustered systems or high availability solutions connected to storage subsystems.

Ø Experienced with replication technologies (True Copy - Shadow Image, SRDF and Time finder) as well as associated automation and management tools and scripts.

Ø Stays informed of new developments and technologies by reading journals and other pertinent publications, maintaining contact with vendors, and participating in professional organizations, meetings, and seminars.
